Impact initiation of explosives is one of the more frequent referred to topics of Prof (Dr) Manfred Held, an internationally renown

ballistician, who passed away in 2011.

The report entitled “The Legacy of Manfred Held with Critique” contains the results of

research conducted at the Naval Postgraduate School, under an exchange agreement with

the Helmut Schmidt University (German Armed Forces), in partial fulfillment of the

requirements for the Degree Master of Science in Electrical Engineering.
